Individual Support Services - Individual
Support Services are services which ease the burden of an individual
by aiding with the cost of gas, child care, testing fees, physical
examinations, the purchasing of books, tools, supplies, uniforms and
other items deemed necessary for educational or employment gain and
the development of an individual employment plan. Each individual's
unique situation is taken into consideration for the support
services that he or she may be provided.
A federal regulation that ITCA strives to attain is keeping the
average cost per participant per year at $3,500. ITCA WIA
must meet a regulation to serve participants for a two (2) year
time period [educational assistance six (6) full semesters] and
it is an expectancy that the participant is employed soon after
completing the program.
GED -
Many educational institutions have classes for a GED at no
charge, but there is a testing fee. The Inter-Tribal Council of
Alabama (ITCA) will pay for the testing fee and perhaps provide
some support services according to the individual's
circumstances. ITCA may aid certain individuals with GED classes
and testing through the internet.
Adult Certificate Training -
Certificate Training is any course taken at an educational
institution where an individual is certified in a specific skill
to enhance their present employment situation or to give that
individual more employment options. Services include individual
support services deemed necessary, the cost of tuition and fees
and a stipend for classroom time depending upon the
circumstances.
Adult Online Training -
Certain individuals can become certified in a specific skill
through an on-line class with an accredited school in an area of
employment which is in high demand. Individuals who cannot
continue to attend college classes on campus due to extenuating
circumstances may qualify for on-line training to receive a
Bachelor's Degree. There is a time limit of two years or less to
receive a Bachelor's Degree in order to obtain gainful
employment. Individual support services provided are determined
by each person's specific needs.
Adult Classroom Training -
Individuals whose goal requires an Associate or a Bachelor's
Degree may qualify for the Classroom Training Program. Many high
demand jobs require an Associate Degree and the ITCA WIA Program
may assist by providing support services and a stipend for
classroom time. If a Bachelor's Degree is necessary to reach the
individual's employment goal, support services and a classroom
stipend may be provided if pre-requisites have been met.
An ITCA requirment is that money from Pell Grant, other grants
or scholarships must be depleted before we may pay for some
services. We cannot duplicate services received from other
programs and in most cases we cannot pay tuition for the
Classroom Training Program. Services to attain a Master's or
Professional Degree may be provided if ITCA WIA requirments are
met.
Adult Work Experience -
The Work Experience Program offers individuals with little or no
work experience initial training in a workplace setting. It is a
requirement that the individual have a job placement either
during or soon after the participant completes the program. For
someone to participate in the Work Experience Program, they must
have graduated from high school or have a GED. The Work
Experience Program is a temporary and part-time training
program. This program is helpful for displaced homemakers and
for young adults to gain work experience for their resume.
Apprenticeship Training - ITCA may assist with information
pertaining to other apprenticeship programs and in certain
circumstances assist with employment training support services
for apprentices. Employers must provide employment for the
apprentices after the training is complete as agreed upon before
the initiation of services.
Entreprenuership Training - ITCA may assist with
information pertaining to the entreprenuership training
services of other programs.
Youth Program -

that live on or near a reservation. Participants under 18 years
of age must have their parents permision and a work permit.

programs and serve younger youth, ages 14 to 18 years with aid
